On this Children's day,
Wake up the child in you.
And in your own special way.
Do something whacky and new.
While you party and play.
Here's some food for thought too.
It's the day for us to introspect.
It's the day for us to reflect.
On what our children aspire;
Their joy and their sorrow.
On what our children dream;
About their worlds of tomorrow.
Where it's not about a rat race.
Where it's about a better place.
Where it's not about the destinations.
Where it's about journeys and creations.
Where the world around
... Is honesty bound
... And logically sound.
And where people are found
... With feet firmly in the ground.
Where its not about being proud.
But in being one with the crowd.
Such is the dream we must make true.
Such is the dream they must wake to!
P.S. "being one with the crowd" here implies "being United" and should not be misunderstood as "being a conformist" (thanks to an amazing English teacher pointing out this alternate and more commonly used interpretation)
